As a Designer
Ready to start designing at Costco? We've gathered information on using Figma at Costco. Check out the steps below to get started on your design journey at Costco!
Setting Up Figma
Joining the Costco Organization in Figma
All of our design work happens in Figma. You'll need to set up your Figma account with our Costco organization to begin using our files and assets.
- Go to Figma.com.
- Select the “Sign Up” or “Log in” button on the homepage.
- Select the “Use single sign-on” option and use your Costco credentials to sign in.
- If you do not have Costco credentials, contact figmaadmins@costco.com for access instructions.
- Once signed in, you are added to Costco’s organization account. By default, you will be assigned a Viewer seat in Figma.
Requesting a Seat Upgrade
You can request an upgrade to either a Dev or Full seat (Learn more about Figma seat types)
- Begin a seat upgrade request in Figma through the ways outlined here: Request a seat.
- Follow the instructions for completing the request via Sailpoint.
- If you do not have Costco credentials, a Figma Admin will respond to your request with instructions.
- Costco’s Figma Admins will complete the final review of the request. You'll receive an email notification regarding your request once the review is complete.
Joining a Figma Team
When you log into Figma, you will see an overview of all of the teams in the Costco organization. The teams represent products that Costco UX Designers work on within the enterprise. You can request to join any of the teams shown.
Using the Figma Desktop App
You can use Figma in your browser or you can download and use the Figma Desktop app. Both options show the same content.
Accessing Shared Libraries
Libraries contain components and styles that are available for designers to reuse in Figma files.
Color Management
In the browser, Figma uses a managed sRGB color profile. Figma will export any assets using the sRGB color profile. You can't change the color profile in the browser. In the desktop app, your color profile can be managed or unmanaged.
An unmanaged color profile lets you use the color profile settings designated by your system's display settings. Your color space will be unmanaged by default.
You also have the option to switch to the managed sRGB color profile. Having a managed color profile allows you to keep a consistent color space in both the browser and desktop app.
To update your color space in the Figma app so that it matches the color space in the browser, follow these steps.
